The NSW Government has announced ambitious planning reforms to increase housing capacity in established areas.
Mecone is proud to have assisted CPDM with obtaining development consent for a landmark development in the Castle Hill North precinct within The Hills Shire Local Government Area. The redevelopment of the site includes the demolition of 14 existing dwellings and the construction of 3 x five storey residential flat buildings and 6 x 3 storey townhouses comprising 118 new dwellings over basement car parking.
Recent research by Mecone unveils a significant trend: Sydney’s new housing development is leaning heavily towards greenfields, despite government aspirations to the contrary. In just five years, greenfield housing has jumped from 18% to almost 50% of new development, while homes near train stations have dwindled from 42% to 31%.
But there’s a looming challenge. With greenfield areas rapidly filling up and only an estimated four years of housing capacity left in Sydney, are we on the brink of a deeper supply crisis?
Dive into our detailed analysis and insights on the Mecone website to understand the future of housing in Sydney.
