Designed by EM BE CE, the shop-top housing proposal was the winning entry in a Council-led design competition and received development approval from Willoughby City Council in November 2022.
The SSDA builds on the winning scheme by increasing residential capacity and including infill affordable housing, supporting both NSW’s housing targets and the objectives of the National Housing Accord. EM BE CE’s refined design preserves the intent of the winning concept while delivering a high-quality residential outcome for the Chatswood CBD.
Mecone led key aspects of the planning process, including:
• Coordinating the Design Integrity Panel and Design Excellence Bridging Strategy
• Preparing the Environmental Impact Statement and Social Impact Assessment
• Managing lodgement and ongoing planning advisory
We look forward to continuing to advance this application with the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure in the coming months.
