The Brief responds to a clear gap in indoor recreation infrastructure identified through the Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment, the Infrastructure Capacity and Prioritisation Plan delivered under the Dungog Shire Housing and Infrastructure Plan 2026, and the Dungog Open Space and Recreation Plan (2023). Collectively these highlight the need for flexible, accessible and multipurpose facilities to support community wellbeing, youth recreation and year-round physical activity.

Mecone provided a number of  services including:

• A Functional Scoping Brief for a potential indoor sport and recreation centre
• Consideration of a diverse mix of uses including organised sport, informal recreation, youth activities and flexible, multi-purpose community spaces
• An internal delivery framework including indicative costings, recommended spatial provisions and functional requirements
• Document design and graphic presentation to support informed decision-making
