Brookvale Planning Proposal Social Infrastructure Plan

Mecone was engaged by the Northern Beaches Council to deliver an evidence-based Social Infrastructure Needs Assessment to support a Council-led Planning Proposal for the Brookvale Precinct. Recognising that Brookvale is a strategic location for employment and residential growth in the Northern Beaches LGA, enabling the right social infrastructure at the right locations is critical in sustaining high levels of community wellbeing and resilience in the LGA.

About the project

The project involved a comprehensive assessment of current and future demographic trends and existing infrastructure supply, and the quantitative and qualitative needs generated by the Planning Proposal. It also included delivery and operational recommendations, including funding and governance models. The final assessment provided robust recommendations that were suitably documented for incorporation into the Planning Proposal and a s7.11 Contributions Plan for the Brookvale study area.

The work involved a comprehensive analysis of current and future demographic trends against existing infrastructure supply to identify the quantitative and qualitative needs generated by the Planning Proposal, and established clear delivery, funding and governance mechanisms to support implementation.

  • Demographic and growth profile analysis identifying current and future population trends
  • Social infrastructure audit mapping and evaluating existing local asset supply and capacity
  • Quantitative and qualitative needs analysis assessing the community infrastructure demands generated by the precinct’s growth
  • Delivery and operational recommendations detailing viable funding mechanisms and governance models
  • Strategic justification and documentation for incorporation into the Planning Proposal and a s7.11 Contributions Plan
