• 60 Day Review Period: From 1 July 2026, all EOIs must be reviewed within 60 days of lodgement.
• Feasibility Reaffirmed: The updated criteria explicitly recognise project feasibility as a central consideration in HDA recommendations. This means the HDA can give weight to economic reality when evaluating what a project can deliver, including the cumulative impact of yield requirements, affordable housing contributions, and infrastructure servicing obligations on project viability.
Mecone welcomes these changes. The HDA was established to accelerate housing supply and feasibility is a critical component of achieving this mandate. Projects that cannot stack up financially do not get built. Embedding feasibility in the assessment process provides a platform for the program to deliver on its housing supply objectives.
