Dungog Shire Housing & Infrastructure Master Plan – Youth Planning Forum

The Master Plan brings together several key deliverables in an integrated workstream, including:

• Local Housing Strategy
• Rural Lands Strategy
• Infrastructure Capacity & Prioritisation Plan
• Dungog Strategic Centre Structure Plan
• Growth Management Strategy in the form of a Local Strategic Planning Statement
• Supporting project management and community engagement.

To support this work, our Social Planning and Engagement team recently hosted a Youth Planning Forum, bringing together 27 students from six local schools. Through a series of interactive activities, the students were asked to collectively craft their vision for what their towns, villages and rural areas should look and feel like in 2041 and beyond.

This forum gave young people a direct seat at the table recognising their role in shaping the future of their towns and villages. The insights gathered will directly inform the Housing and Infrastructure Master Plan, ensuring tomorrow’s Dungog reflects the hopes and ideas of the next generation.
