Mecone are proud to have assisted Dahua Group Australia in securing planning approval from the Central Sydney Planning Committee for the redevelopment of the former Sydney Water site at 903-921 Bourke Street Waterloo, the largest site in the Danks Street South Precinct on the fringe of Green Square.

The $218 million development, designed by Bates Smart, Richards and Spence, MHNDU and Field Work, comprises six buildings across the site with 376 apartments, over 2,500m2 of commercial/retail floor space, and the dedication of almost 6,000m2 of land to the City for future public squares, parks and through-site links.

The approval is the culmination of several years of determination by the large consultant team successfully navigating the site’s complexities, including the retention of a State heritage listed and operational water pumping station. Mecone assisted in the delivery of the initial planning proposal, site-specific DCP, voluntary planning agreement, two separate design competitions, early works DA approval and now the detailed design DA approval.
