Broadmeadow: Greater Newcastle’s Biggest Urban Renewal Project
The NSW Government has finalised a state-led rezoning for Broadmeadow last Friday clearing the way for up to 3,200 new homes (with 5–10% affordable), approximately 2,350 construction jobs, preservation of significant heritage sites, upgraded green spaces and improved transport links to Broadmeadow Train Station.
This marks the start of Greater Newcastle’s largest urban renewal project, set to unfold over the next 30 years under the Broadmeadow Place Strategy (recently jointly developed by City of Newcastle and the NSW Government). The transformation will deliver new homes, jobs and vibrant community spaces to the precinct.

Burwood North: Growth focused on new Metro Station
The NSW Government announced today that they will lead the planning for the Burwood North Metro Precinct, with potential to deliver around 15,000 new homes near the future Sydney Metro station. The rezoning will create a transit-orientated precinct with new housing and job opportunities, enhanced open space and revitalisation of the Parramatta Road corridor.
The rezoning is being progressed through the State Significant Rezoning Pathway, which was introduced by the Minns Government to fast-track major rezoning proposals. The NSW Government will work with councils and state agencies to progress the rezoning, with a draft masterplan set for exhibition in early 2026.
