Mecone are proud to announce the Residential Development Review, a new partnership with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) of Australia to publish a regular update on the residential markets of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane. The publication examines the forces impacting on residential development including population growth, planning approvals, dwelling completions, infill and greenfield development, and the overlap of growth and infrastructure. The publication will be released every six months with the first issue covering the second half of calendar 2018 now available.

To celebrate the publication’s launch, ULI held an event titled “Insights on the Australian Residential Market” graciously hosted by Aqualand at their Australian HQ in Barangaroo Tower One. Ben Hendriks, Mecone Managing Director, gave a keynote presentation highlighting some of the crucial disconnects occurring in the residential market especially in Sydney. Ben’s presentation covered the forces driving population growth, the spatial nature of dwelling approvals across Sydney, and the strategic view of where growth can and should happen. The presentation flowed into a panel discussion including Ben alongside Esther Cheong of AEC, Daniel Khong of Capella Capital, and Lisa Chikarovski of Chikarovski and Associates, moderated by Jane Lloyd of Third Shift Enterprises.
